Idaho Lottery Players Score Big with $100,000 Powerball Win

BOISE – Longtime friends and roommates Rod Jacobs and Marian Mathewson woke up early and drove straight from McCammon to Boise the other morning. The pair rolled into the Lottery office with a winning $100,000 Powerball ticket from the drawing on Wednesday January 12, 2005!  

On their $5 quick pick ticket, line D had all 5 white numbers but not the red Powerball. Line C had the Powerball number but none others. “Oh, if only it was one line down!” Rod mused. But he wasn’t upset. “It won’t change our lives but it sure is nice!” 

Rod and Marian buy Powerball tickets every week but have never won big before. Rod’s not sure what he’ll do with his share of the money but Marian, a quilter, is going to buy a fancy sewing machine. 

The winning ticket was purchased at McCammon Chevron in McCammon. 

The Powerball jackpot is currently at $19 million. The next draw is Saturday January 22, 2005, at 8:59 p.m. MST.  

Powerball is the multi-state lotto game that offers players nine ways to win. Players select five numbers from 1 to 53 and a Powerball from 1 to 42. The jackpot is won by matching 5 numbers plus the Powerball. Odds of winning a cash prize are 1 in 36. Jackpot odds are 1 in 120 million.. Drawings are held each week on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 8:59pm MST.
