Powerball Jackpot at $240 Million! 

(Boise, ID) – The Powerball jackpot keeps growing! The estimated jackpot for Wednesday’s Powerball drawing is a scorching $240 million. 

This current Powerball run began on August, 13, 2005, and the upcoming draw will be the 18th in the run. The cash option for the drawing will be an estimated $117.7 million. If the jackpot is hit on Wednesday evening, it would rank as the 5th largest in Powerball history and the 9th largest in the world. 

“When the jackpot gets this high it’s important to remind everyone what the odds are of winning,” says Idaho Lottery Director Roger Simmons. “Don’t bet the farm. Remember, it is fun to play and fun to dream, but play responsibly. You can create just as many ‘what if’ scenarios for a dollar as you can for $100.” 

In this calendar year, Powerball has only been over $100 million twice – but the last winner of a jackpot over $100 million was May 28, 2005, when Idahoan Brad Duke won $220.3 million. 

Players should carefully check their tickets after every draw. Even if there are no jackpot winners, there are always tens of thousands of winners at other prize levels. Odds of winning the jackpot are 1:146 million, overall odds of winning a prize are 1:36.6.
