Governor Risch Appoints Newspaper Publisher

David Keyes to Idaho Lottery Commission

Boise – Governor James E. Risch appointed David Keyes, publisher/editor of the Bonner County Daily Bee, to fill a seat on the Idaho Lottery Commission.  The appointment became effective on November 27, 2006 and runs until January 1, 2011.

In addition to being the publisher/editor of the Bonner County Daily Bee in Sandpoint, Keyes has served on the Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce, the Sandpoint Rotary, Sandpoint Kiwanis, the Panhandle Alliance for Education, and as Chairman of the Celebrate Sandpoint Committee.

“I’m looking forward to giving something back to the community,” said the 44-year-old veteran newspaper man. “The Lottery has made a difference for so many schools in Idaho. I’m excited to be a part of that now.”

Beginning with the Hagadone Corporation owned Bonners Ferry Herald as a reporter in 1986, Keyes career has spanned twenty years covering news in North Idaho. Today, he oversees the publication of the Bonners Ferry Herald, the Priest River Times, and the Daily Bee.  He lives in Sandpoint with his wife Marlisa and their two children Austin and Olivia.

Keyes fills an opening on the Idaho Lottery Commission formerly held by Teresa Deshon of Sandpoint whose term expired.
