Lisa Thomas Kicks Off BSU Season as Ultimate Fan Pass Winner

Boise – Lisa Thomas and her husband John were more interested in buying Powerball tickets to enter the Ultimate Fan Pass contest from the Lottery than actually winning last week’s $300 Million jackpot.

“Last week my husband left out $10 for me so I asked what it was for. He told me it was his half of the $20 PowerPlay ticket for the BoiseState tickets and that I needed to kick in $10 and buy a ticket,” described Thomas. “I told him the jackpot was up to $300 million and he said ‘that’s nice, but make sure to get an entry so we can win those Bronco tickets’!”

Thomas visited Lottery Offices this morning to claim her prize. “I was so excited, I couldn’t sleep last night,” described the big BSU fan. “I got to see the eclipse though!”

A business colleague read that Thomas was the winner on the Lottery’s website and called her on the phone to congratulate her. When she visited the site herself, she couldn’t believe it. The long-time Jensen Homes employee arrived at work this morning where she was handed her new vacation schedule by her boss – a highlighted version of Boise State’s 2007 football schedule. “If you can’t get the time off, I’ll be happy to go to Hawaii for you,” her boss said kidding.

For winning the most successful promotion in Lottery history, Thomas receives sideline passes for all seven Bronco home games this year, plus, airfare, transportation, accommodations, and tickets to see BSU play Washington, Fresno St. and Hawaii.  Highlights of trips include staying at the upscale Hotel Monaco in Seattle and the luxurious Hyatt in Honolulu.

Thomas plans to share the three trips with her husband of 26 years, himself a big Bronco fan. “He was a football player and I was a cheerleader. We got married out of high school and have been together ever since,” she said beaming. “We love watching Bronco football together and this season is going to be the best yet.”

Bronco fans thinking of joining Thomas on the trip to Hawaii aren’t completely out of luck. On Thursday, the Lottery will kick of their Second Chance at Paradise promotion. For a $5 Wild Card purchase from any Jacksons statewide, players receive a voucher to enter on the Lottery’s website. Three finalists will be drawn who will compete in a giant scratch-off during the BSU – Idaho game on November 17 for the second trip to Hawaii.
