Idaho National Guard Member Wins $200,000 on Powerball

 

Boise – Veterans Day is a day filled with honor and tradition as we recognize the service from our Armed Forces.  This year on Veterans Day, however, one lucky member of the Idaho National Guard added a little green to the red, white and blue when she won $200,000 with a winning Powerball ticket from the Idaho Lottery.

 

Chief Master Sergeant Cynthia Krapff matched all five numbers, but not the Powerball, for last Saturday night’s $82 million draw. The winning numbers were 6, 22, 24, 26, 30 and the Powerball was 12. 

 

On Sunday morning, Krapff was preparing for Veterans Day services when she stopped in her favorite Jacksons store and decided to check a handful of old Lottery tickets.  “I hardly ever play and don’t even check my tickets for winners that often,” confessed Krapff, a self-described occasional Lottery player. “I play because I know the money goes to schools.”

 

“The clerk handed me back the ticket and told me I needed to claim it at the Lottery,” described Krapff. “I had no idea how much it was worth when I left the store because I had to go to the services.”

 

With a hectic day full of ceremonies, Krapff nearly forgot about the winning ticket until later Sunday evening when she finally checked the numbers on-line at the Lottery’s website. “It was the last row of numbers. They all started to match up and that’s when I got excited. I couldn’t really believe it,” described Krapff, who has lived in the Treasure Valley for 34 years.

 

Krapff has played the same Lottery numbers at the same Jacksons store on the corner of Five Mile and Overland for fifteen years.  For their part in selling the winning ticket, Jacksons will receive a bonus from the Idaho Lottery of $20,000.  After taxes, Krapff receives $134,400.  

 

The jackpot for tonight’s Powerball drawing is an estimated $95 million.  And at present, the Idaho $1,000,000 Raffle tickets are approximately 27% sold.
