$200,000 Winning Powerball Ticket Sold in Idaho

 

Boise – Calendar year 2008 is beginning the way 2007 ended for the Idaho Lottery – with another $200,000 winner on Powerball.  One lucky ticket, sold in Oneida County in Malad City matched all five numbers, but not the Powerball in last night’s $97 million draw.  The winning numbers were 9, 18, 19, 38, 47 and the Powerball was 11.  Malad City is in southeastern Idaho near the Idaho – Utah border.

 

“As always, we are asking our players to check their tickets carefully,” encouraged Jeff Anderson, Idaho Lottery Director. “Too frequently, a player will not match the Powerball and think they do not have a winning ticket. In this case, the winner matched all five numbers but not the Powerball and is holding a ticket worth $200,000.”

 

This is the 6th major winning Powerball ticket sold since Idaho in October 15, 2007.  The last large Powerball ticket, a $600,000 winner sold in northern Idaho in the town of Rathdrum for the December 15, 2007 draw, has yet to be claimed.  This is the second $200,000 winner in three months for southeastern Idaho. The last was claimed by Kathleen Olsen of Logan, Utah on November 15, 2007.

 

“It is also a good idea for players to sign the back of their tickets prior to presenting them for payment to ensure their proper ownership,” added Jeff Anderson.

 

The holder of the winning ticket has 180 days to claim their prize from Lottery offices in Boise.
