Weiser Man Wins $25,000 on American Idol Lottery ticket

Next winner announced December 15

Boise – Dean Davies of Weiser got an early holiday present from the Idaho Lottery this year when he scratched a winning American Idolticket worth $25,000 the day before Thanksgiving.  And while he may not have heard Randy, Paula, or Simon tell him “Welcome to Hollywood” the long-time resident of Washington County was excited about hitting it big.

“I’d been playing the game regularly, almost every day and was hoping to win,” said an enthusiastic Davies who drove from his home in Weiser to the Maverik Country Store in Payette to find American Idol scratch tickets to play.

American Idol the ScratchTM game debuted last January with the launch of last season’s popular television show on Fox.  The game has had a steady following all year long.  This Friday, December 12, 2008 at 12 Noon Mountain Time is the last chance Idaho Lottery players have to enter their non-winning American Idol ScratchTM tickets for a chance to win the game’s remaining top prize of $25,000.

American Idol was the Idaho Lottery’s first ScratchTM game that featured a top prize as part of a second chance draw.  The winner of this second $25,000 prize will be announced on Monday, December 15, 2008.

Davies did not have immediate plans for his winnings however he did mention he was thinking about getting a new car.  For their part in selling the winning ticket, Maverik Country Stores will receive a bonus of $3,750.
