DETECTIVE, LOTTERY ENFORCEMENT DIVISION
MUST HAVE ACADEMY TRAINING THAT MEETS OR EXCEEDS THE IDAHO PEACE OFFICERS TRAINING CERTIFICATION STANDARDS (MOST STATE-RUN ACADEMIES APPLY)
- CLASS PURPOSE

To investigate illegal activity including gambling, gaming and Lottery related crimes;
enforce Idaho laws and regulations;
develop cases for prosecution or administrative actions;
perform all law enforcement related duties.
- PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Investigation. Typical responsibilities: conducts investigations of suspected violations of Idaho Code governing lotteries, gambling and charitable gaming including the theft of lottery products from retailers, illegal gambling activities, unlawful manufacturing, possession of stolen materials and fraud; gathers and analyzes evidence to determine validity of allegations, the appropriate course of action and investigative processes; identifies and interviews potential witnesses; reviews individual and business records to detect Lottery and/or charitable gaming fraud or abuse; determines appropriate course of action such as arrests, criminal prosecution or civil/administrative recovery; coordinates investigations with other law enforcement entities throughout the state.

Case preparation/enforcement. Typical responsibilities: prepares criminal case reports, affidavits of probable cause and investigative and administrative reports; gathers, prepares, and presents evidence in court; testifies as an expert witness and recommends disposition of cases.

Project Management. Typical responsibilities: supervises operational and field activities such as: loss prevention activities including training and consultation; on-line gaming drawing oversight and management; performing internal game drawings; computer system monitoring and security; on-site security management; and operational controls. Create, monitor and manage programs and policies to ensure the integrity of all Lottery games from point of creation to sale and validation.
This position requires ability to become proficient in multiple interfaced Lottery computer systems, accounting and record-keeping, various types of fraud and theft, all forms of gambling to include methods, mechanisms and equipment, methods of interview and interrogation, defensive tactics and arrest techniques, rules of evidence and discovery, court procedures and report writing.
Incumbent performs most activities with little or no direct supervision so this requires a person who can multi-task, is self motivated and can prioritize workload based on circumstance driven discretion.
The majority of the time the incumbent will work Monday through Friday daytime hours but occasionally evening, weekend and night shifts may be required. The incumbent will also be required to be on-call approximately one (1) week per month.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicant must have the following:
- Hold a current Peace/Police Officer Basic certification or higher
- Have a minimum of two (2) years of law enforcement experience
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills (You will be tested on this)
- Has experience writing detailed reports (You will be tested on this)
- Be proficient with all Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint (You will be tested on this)
- The ability to pass a complete background check to include criminal history, drug test, polygraph and credit check
- Must live or move to the Boise area
Starting Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 and hour based on experience
