$1 Million Winning Powerball Ticket Sold in Franklin County

BOISE, Idaho ÔÇô Christmas might be coming a little bit early for one lucky Idaho Lottery player today.

The Idaho Lottery has confirmed that one winning Powerball ticket worth $1 million from last night's, December 1, 2010, Powerball draw was sold in Franklin County, along the Idaho ÔÇô Utah border. The winning ticket has matched all five "white" ball numbers, but not the Powerball number itself. The winning numbers for last night┬┤s $95.3 million draw were 5, 10, 11, 12, 20 and the Powerball number was 2.

In addition to matching all five "white" ball numbers, the winning ticket has the PowerPlay option, turning the ticket into an automatic $1 million winner.

"We are encouraging everyone who played Powerball in the Franklin County area for last night's draw to check their tickets carefully for winners," stated Jeff Anderson, Idaho Lottery Director. "Too many times we've seen players look at their ticket and believe they were not a winner because they did not match the Powerball number. In this case, the winning ticket matched all five numbers, but not the Powerball. And with the PowerPlay option, that makes it a $1 million winner."

PowerPlay is a $1 per play add-on feature that multiplies all non-jackpot winning Powerball tickets from 2 to 5 times, depending on the number selected for that particular draw. Last night's PowerPlay number was 3. In the case of winning tickets that match only all five "white" ball numbers and have the PowerPlay option, since January 2009, these tickets automatically win $1,000,000, regardless of the multiplier selected for the draw.

There were over 6,500 individual winners on Powerball in Idaho last night, including last night's $1,000,000 winning ticket. The Idaho Lottery is encouraging all players to sign their tickets prior to presenting them for payment.

This is the second $1,000,000 winning Powerball ticket sold in eastern Idaho this year. The last one, sold in Irwin near the Idaho ÔÇô Wyoming border in Bonneville County, expired last September and went unclaimed.

Players have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim their winnings from Lottery Offices in Boise. Players can check their tickets at any Idaho Lottery retailer or by visiting the Lottery's website at https://www.idaholottery.com/games/winning-numbers.
