$1,000,000 Winning Powerball Ticket Set to Expire

BOISE, Idaho ÔÇô Time is running out for the individual holding a Powerball ticket worth $1,000,000. There are only two weeks left for the person holding the winning ticket to claim their prize. The winning ticket was sold at Huskey's in Irwin along the Idaho-Wyoming border. The holder of the ticket from the March 6, 2010 Powerball draw has until the close of business at the Idaho Lottery Headquarters in Boise on Thursday, September 2, 2010 to claim their prize. On September 3, 2010, the Powerball ticket from the March 6, 2010 draw will expire and the Idaho Lottery will no longer be able to pay the claim.

"After several months of searching for this winner, time is quickly running out for them," said Jeff Anderson, Idaho Lottery Director. "Once the ticket expires, the winning prize amount will go into the Lottery's unclaimed prize fund which ultimately will apply to our bottom line and the dividend we return to the people of Idaho."

Since the winning ticket was announced publicly on March 7, 2010, the Idaho Lottery has not received even one phone call or e-mail inquiry about the ownership of the ticket. The winning numbers from the March 6, 2010 draw were 10, 29, 33, 41, and 59. The Powerball number was 15. The Irwin winning ticket matched the first five numbers, but not the Powerball number itself and has the PowerPlay feature which makes it worth an automatic $1,000,000.

"If you were in Irwin in early March of this year and played Powerball, please check your tickets carefully," encouraged Anderson. "And, as always, be certain to sign the back of your tickets to protect your play."

The last big winning draw ticket that went unclaimed in Idaho was a Powerball ticket from July 2008. That ticket was also a $200,000 winning Powerball ticket that matched the first five numbers and was sold in Malad City along the Idaho-Utah border in late January of that year and did not have PowerPlay. It eventually expired and went unclaimed.

The Powerball jackpot for Saturday night is an estimated $80 million.
