Coeur d'Alene Woman Wins $50,000 on Sherlock Holmes

BOISE, Idaho ÔÇô The decision to buy an Idaho Lottery Scratch ticket and play is well, "Elementary." At least for one Coeur d'Alene woman, that decision turned out to be worth $50,000 on Wednesday when she claimed the last top prize on Sherlock Holmes, the Scratch GameTM.

"It was only the second ticket on that game I had ever played," exclaimed Carline Centers. "I never imagined in my wildest dreams I would ever win this much from a scratch-off ticket."

On Monday, Centers bought her winning ticket and a few others at random from an Idaho Lottery vending machine at the Super 1 Foods in Coeur d'Alene. On her way home, she stopped to pick up a pizza and decided to scratch the ticket in her truck while she waited.

"When I saw I'd won $50,000, I left the pizza behind and drove back to Super 1 to have the ticket verified at Customer Service," described Centers, a long time resident of Coeur d'Alene. "I finally went back and got the pizza about an hour later but was too excited to eat!"

Based on the popular Warner Brothers movie released in December, Sherlock Holmes the Scratch Game had sold 98.4% of all its tickets prior to Centers claiming the final top prize. For their part in selling the winning ticket, Super 1 Foods will receive a bonus from the Idaho Lottery of $6,000.

Centers immediate plans were to use her winnings to pay down some bills and then to help her family.
