Idaho Lottery Director Becomes President of North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries

BOISE, Idaho ÔÇô The Idaho Lottery announced that Director Jeff Anderson is now the President for the North American State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL). NASPL is the largest lottery industry association in North America and includes 52 members ÔÇô 43 state lotteries in the contiguous United States, 5 Canadian provincial lotteries, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and the United States Virgin Islands. Director Anderson will also continue his duties at the Idaho Lottery and as Director of the Idaho State Liquor Division.

"Accepting the privilege of a leadership role in a national association, especially for a small state like Idaho, provides us the opportunity to contribute to the future of the industry," said Anderson. "I will work to continue the excellent leadership of those who've preceded me in bringing the industry together, to create as much unity as we can for our common goals."

Anderson will be applying the same principles in leading NASPL that he's operated under the past four years at the Idaho Lottery.

"I believe it's better to focus on a few things and do them well. It's about creating an environment that's conducive to collaboration and great work, bringing alignment on issues and how they impact our industry, and our ability to continue to fund the good causes we collectively support.," said Anderson.

"Having the head seat at the table is a valuable role in shaping the national agenda as we look at industry standards, continue to administer a responsible environment of lottery gaming, and the importance of lottery security and integrity," added Anderson. "Issues such as Internet gaming are part of a national debate that will focus on states-rights issues. States must have a place in determining, based on the sensibility of their citizens, what type of gaming occurs within their borders."

Anderson's current term as President runs until next autumn's annual NASPL conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. Previously, Anderson has served as the organization's Region IV Director, Treasurer, Secretary, 2nd Vice-President, and 1st Vice-President.
