Meet the One! 'Lucky Leprechaun' Bartley Wins Raffle

BOISE, Idaho ÔÇô Usually the luck of the Irish comes along in March, but for one lucky Boisean, Irish luck found him the first week of June. Known to his family as the "Lucky Leprechaun," Dermott Bartley, whose family is of Irish heritage, was the one and only winner in the Idaho Lottery's 2011 Winner Take All Raffle. Bartley won $191,100 when he claimed his prize with the winning ticket, number 009175.

Bartley bought his winning ticket at the Albertsons store located at the corner of Five Mile and Ustick in west Boise when he cashed in about $95 worth of Idaho Lottery Scratch ticket winners. The store clerk told him about Winner Take All Raffle and the three tickets for $50 promotion the Lottery was offering during the game.

"I had wanted to buy some raffle tickets anyway, so I threw in an extra five bucks and bought six tickets in a row," explained Bartley. "When I checked the winning numbers, I pulled out my first ticket and it was 009176 and I was thinking to myself, oh please, let me have the others right next to it."

And he did. Bartley had consecutive tickets 009171 through 009176, which included the winner. As he checked the winning number on the Internet, he looked on in disbelief at his computer screen and then his ticket - again and again, and again.

"The numbers on the screen matched the numbers on my ticket. I thought I was seeing things," continued Bartley.

Bartley plans to invest his winnings wisely.

For their part in selling the winning ticket, Albertsons received a bonus check from the Idaho Lottery for $19,110 ÔÇô ten percent of the final winning jackpot amount.

"We value the long term relationship we've had with Albertsons," said David Workman, Idaho Lottery spokesman during the check ceremony. "They are a terrific Lottery partner and we hope they have many more big winners."
