BOISE, Idaho – What began as a typical Saturday for Pat Malay turned into a $200,000 windfall for the long-time Weiser resident. Malay stopped by the Maverik in Payette and purchased a Ride the Win Scratch ticket from the Idaho Lottery. He took it to his truck and played it.
“I didn’t really believe it,” said Malay when he realized he had a big, six-figure winning ticket. “You just don’t expect that to really happen, but it did!”
Malay is not a stranger to winning on big Scratch tickets. A regular player, he celebrated the New Year in 2014 by winning $100,000 on the Idaho Lottery’s game Gem State Mega Cashword. Malay claimed this winning ticket Tuesday morning when Lottery offices re-opened after the long Memorial Day weekend.
He said he planned to pay some bills and then save the remaining of his winnings. Maverik receives a bonus from the Idaho Lottery for $20,000.
