What did you do, win the Lottery? Yes, I did! Chubbuck Man Claims $100,000 Winner

BOISE, Idaho ÔÇô A co-worker of David Neiers was reading a media story there had been a $100,000 winning Powerball ticket in sold in Bannock County. As the co-worker read off the winning numbers, Neiers ears perked up.

"I'd bought a ticket in Bannock County and those numbers sounded like my numbers," explained Neiers when he visited Lottery Offices in Boise late on Friday afternoon.

When Neiers returned home after work, he checked his tickets and sure enough, he was holding the winning ticket which matched four of the first five numbers and the Powerball. Neiers' ticket also had the PowerPlay multiplier, which for the draw on Saturday, September 9, 2017 was 2. That made his $50,000 winning ticket worth $100,000. After telling his wife, they recorded the evening news that ran a short story about the winning ticket and the winning numbers. Then they invited a few family members to watch the replay.

"It took a while for everyone to catch on that I was holding the winning ticket," said Neiers with a chuckle. "Right after that, my granddaughter asked if I would buy an extra batch of cookies for the school bake sale."

After sharing the news with his wife and family, Neiers knew exactly what some of the winnings was going toward.

"I have an old Camaro sitting in the garage I've been meaning to fix up for a while," said Neiers. "I called my buddy and told him I finally had some money to fix up the Camaro. He asked me, 'What did you do, win the Lottery?' And I said yes I did!"

Neiers bought his winning ticket from the Stinker Store located at Pheasant Ridge and Hiline in Chubbuck.

The winning ticket featured the PowerPlay multiplier. PowerPlay is $1 extra per line played at the time of purchase and multiplies non-jackpot winning tickets up to $2,000,000. Neiers' winning ticket with PowerPlay is the second ticket to win at least six figures in the past three weeks.

"You can't win if you don't play," offered Neiers as he left Lottery Offices in Boise. "You could be next!"
