$1 Million Powerball Ticket Sold in Boise

Boise – Lottery luck has struck Idaho again. The Idaho Lottery has confirmed that a winning ticket worth $1 million was sold in Boise, in Ada County.  The winning ticket matched all five numbers but not the Powerball. The winning numbers were 8, 20, 29, 42, 43, and the Powerball was 35.

Matching five numbers but not the Powerball is normally a $200,000 winning ticket however, this ticket has the PowerPlay, an option players select for an extra dollar that multiplies non-winning jackpots by 2 to 5. In last night’s $39 million draw, the PowerPlay was 5 turning the $200,000 ticket into a $1 million winner.

No one has contacted the Idaho Lottery to claim ownership of the winning ticket.

“We are encouraging all of our players to check their tickets carefully,” announced Jeff Anderson, Idaho Lottery Director. “Too often if a player realizes they have not matched the Powerball they do not check their other numbers. In this case, the winner did match every number but not the Powerball. And with the PowerPlay option, they are holding a one million dollar winning ticket.”

Anderson also encouraged every player to sign their winning tickets before presenting them for payment. “Whether it is a one dollar winner or the million dollar winner, we want to ensure players secure ownership of their tickets,” he added.

Last night’s winning ticket was the third million dollar or higher prize won in Idaho since March.  Two weeks ago, Idaho hit the $2.78 million Wild Card jackpot with the winning ticket sold in Pocatello.  No winner has come forward.  In March, another $1 million winning ticket was sold at the Maverik Store located at 8651 W. State Street in Boise. That ticket was turned over to the courts on March 15, 2007 and is awaiting resolution.

“We have had our fair share of winning tickets of late,” said Anderson. “Idaho continues to be a lucky state to play the Lottery.”
