Through historical fiction and nonfiction texts, primary-source materials, engineering challenges, research projects, and creative dioramas, students will develop literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills while exploring one of history's most fascinating events. The requested materials will help transform our classroom into an interactive learning environment where curiosity drives learning and every student has the opportunity to connect with history in a meaningful way. Students will read, write, investigate, create, and collaborate as they explore the stories of the Titanic and the people whose lives were forever changed by its voyage. By bringing history to life through hands-on, cross-curricular learning, these resources will inspire a love of reading, deepen student engagement, and create unforgettable learning experiences that students will remember long after they leave third grade. I will never forget when one of my second grade students discovered “Frog and Toad.” Her reading ability grew over a grade level in three months! Finding that “just right” book set was all that it took to instill a love of reading. Hopefully this series of books will ignite her desire to become a lifelong reader!"
