$10,000 IDAHO POWERBALL WINNER

Scott Allen of Rexburg missed winning the $340 MILLION Powerball jackpot by 3 digits. He matched 4 of the white numbers and the Powerball. He would have won the jackpot if the fifth white number had been 52 instead of 49. “Hey, but I won $10,000!” remarked Scott, a father of four.

Scott usually picks his own numbers using his kids birthdays along with a few quick picks when he plays. “I usually play when the jackpot gets to a $100 million or so, then I buy a stack of them.” Scott waited a few days to check his stack of tickets which he purchased at Horkley’s in Rexburg. When he did, he just took them to clerk and just had them scan the tickets. He said it took a while before the clerk noticed one that said, “Claim at Lottery.” They both examined the ticket and when the clerk told Scott he had won $10,000, everyone in the store turned to look.

Scott says he owes his luck to his stepson Dakota. When he went to buy his tickets he told Dakota, his stepson, to put his hand on the Lotto machine for luck. Sure enough, he had a big winner. Scott told Dakota he would share some of the money with him.

When asked what he was going to do with the money Scott announced, “It will go towards the house we are building.” Then changing his mind later said, “You know it would be fun to use this money to take all the kids to Disneyland or on a cruise.” Scott definitely is going to put his $10,000 to good use!
