Governor Risch Appoints Former State Treasurer 

Lydia Justice-Edwards to Idaho Lottery Commission

 

Boise – Governor James E. Risch has appointed Lydia Justice-Edwards to fill the vacant seat on the Idaho Lottery Commission.  The appointment will be effective beginning August 1, 2006 and will run until January 1, 2010.

 

“Lydia has a long and distinguished history of serving the people of Idaho.  I appreciate her willingness to continue working on behalf of our school children on the Idaho Lottery Commission,” said Risch.

 

A long time Donnelly resident, Justice-Edwards served the State of Idaho previously in the House of Representatives from 1983 – 1987 from District 9.  Her work on the House Transportation Committee was instrumental in developing the Horseshoe Bend hill project. She was also responsible for the passage of Idaho’s Child Safety Seat Legislation.

 

Justice-Edwards was first elected State Treasurer in 1986 and served for twelve years. Since leaving public office, Justice-Edwards has become a non-fiction writer and is looking forward to her new assignment with the Lottery Commission.

 

“I’m excited, and always have been, for what the Lottery means to the people of Idaho,” said Justice-Edwards from her family ranch in Donnelly. “The educational benefit the Lottery brings to our schools is so worthwhile and I’m pleased to now be a part of it.”

 

Justice-Edwards fills a vacancy left open on the Idaho Lottery Commission by Ralph Hartwell whose term expired.
