Idaho Lottery Arrests Security Officer for Stolen Tickets

Boise – Today, Idaho Lottery officials took Christopher Martin in to custody for one count of petty theft and one count of felony presentation of an illegally obtained lottery ticket.

Martin, 20, of EmmettIdaho was working as a contract on-site security officer at Lottery Headquarters in Boise when he allegedly stole an entire promotional pack of Disco Duck scratch tickets from a secure office.  Disco Duck, a $1 scratch game, comes in packs of 250 tickets.

After scratching the tickets, Martin then allegedly cashed in the pack of tickets at 11 different Idaho Lottery retail locations late Saturday night and Sunday morning.  The tickets were redeemed for approximately $144.

Lottery tickets have strict security measures in place that make it very difficult to successfully steal them.

Martin faces a 5-year, $25,000 fine if he is convicted making stealing lottery tickets a bad bet.
