(Boise, ID) – Local celebrities from all over the Treasure Valley stepped up to the plate to score some money from the Idaho Lottery for area schools during the Lottery’s Celebrity Homerun Derby on Saturday, June 26, 2004, just before the Boise Hawks took on Eugene at Hawks Stadium. 

Hawks fans filled the stadium early to watch the Valley’s favorite personalities from TV, newspaper and radio strut their tail feathers and slug ’em for schools’ benefit. 

In honor of the Lottery’s 15th Anniversary, the deals were set with a familiar theme. Each batter had 15 pitches and with each good hit, grounders didn’t count, they collected cash for the school they chose to play for. Good hits garnered $15 or $150. No one hit an outta-the-park homerun, which would have won $1,500. 

The Lottery gave out $2,295 at the event. Everyone received at least $45 for their school, but the top scoring batters were: 

Vin Crosby from KTRV with $900 for East Middle School in Nampa
KJ Mack from KHITS with $360 for River Valley Elementary in Boise
Eddie Misler from KTIK with $315 for Borah High in Boise.

The other players and their schools were: Big Jack Armstrong (Kool Oldies), Pioneer Elementary; Lance Bandley (KIVI), Liberty Elementary; Mike Casper (Mix 106), Meridian Charter School; Ted Dawson (KBCI), Collister Elementary; Nicholas Collias (Boise Weekly), Sunnyridge Elementary; Brian Holmes (KTVB), Riverglen Jr. High; John Gardner (Idaho Statesman), Horizon Elementary; Brett Reckamp (KBOI), North Jr. High; Brad Wiler (KISS FM), Highlands Elementary.
