North Idaho Schools Collect Thousands of Dollars at Lottery Fundraisers! 

Boise – 3…2…1…SCRATCH! Representatives from North Idaho public schools furiously tackled heaps of Lottery scratch tickets in an intense fight to uncover as many as possible. 

Witnessing the determination to win the contest was a marvel when the Idaho Lottery hosted the Jim Bruce Scratch for Schools event, a fundraiser for K-12 public schools on Friday April 30, 2004 at Lake City High School in Coeur d’Alene. A second event was held on Saturday May 1, 2004, at Lewis Clark State College in Lewiston. 

Holding two events enabled more schools to participate During the five-minutes of mad scratching, each school was given 300 scratch tickets. All schools got to keep the money on their tickets, and prizes were awarded to the teams that scratched the most tickets and the most total dollar amount. 1,000 extra tickets to the winner in each category. Plus each school got to take back any remaining unscratched tickets. 

In Coeur d’Alene, Heyburn Elementary received the prize for highest total amount with $202 uncovered. Garwood Elementary won the prize of 1,000 extra tickets for scratching the most. In Lewiston, Prairie High School received the prize for highest total amount with $196 and Prairie Elementary won for scratching the most tickets. More than $4,100 was revealed and given away at the two events. Everyone walked away a winner, and all schools were thrilled to participate. 

The Lottery conducts Jim Bruce Scratch for Schools events all over the state.
