BOISE – The Idaho Powerball jackpot continues to climb and is $92 million for Wednesday’s drawing. Lottery officials recommend visiting your lucky retailer before Wednesday, forecasting long lines at the Powerball “red machines”.

“This is a great time of year for the Powerball jackpot to roll,” Idaho Lottery Director Bob Ginkel said. “It would make any family’s holiday season one to remember.”

Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot ranks the highest Idaho has seen in a long time. In the past, winning tickets have made 13 Idaho players instant millionaires. The highest Idaho jackpot winner, Pam Hiatt, won $87 million in June 1995.

Powerball is the multi-state lotto game that offers players nine ways to win. Players select five numbers from 1 to 49 and a Powerball from 1 to 42. The jackpot is won by matching all five numbers plus the Powerball. Odds of winning a cash prize are 1 in 34.8. Jackpot odds are 1 in 80 million. Powerball is played in 20 states and the District of Columbia. Drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The Drawing for Powerball is held at 8:59 MST and results are immediately posted on the Idaho Lottery’s website www.idaholottery.com

More than $20 million was given to Idaho public schools and buildings last year and almost $200 million has been contributed in the past 11 years.
