Soda Springs Woman wins Lottery, $70,000

Boise – One lucky Soda Springs resident just made the best deal of her life when she exchanged a $7 Idaho Lottery Deal or No Deal scratch ticket for $70,000.

Sharona Foss, a long time resident of Soda Springs, claimed her winnings at the Lottery Monday, October 22, 2007. And the big win didn’t even come with a lot models holding brief cases, a banker on the phone and a bald game show host pressuring Foss to take the deal.

“I scratched the ticket at home and didn’t think I did it right,” explained a disbelieving Foss who hit the last remaining top prize on that game from the Lottery.

“After looking at it several times, I figured I got it right and let out a big ‘woo-hoo’! I couldn’t believe it,” exclaimed Foss. “I don’t even really watch the show. I just buy a couple of tickets each time I go into work.”

Foss bought the ticket from the Quick Stop at 111 N. Hooper Avenue in Soda Springs where she works part-time. After taxes, Foss took home slightly more than $47,000.  For their part in selling the ticket, Quick Stop will receive a bonus from the Lottery for $7,000.

After such a big windfall, Foss said she didn’t have more immediate plans for the winnings other than to maybe pay off her car, invest a good portion of it and retire some old bills.  She did, though, ask for directions to the Boise Towne Square Shopping Mall on her way out of town.
